SARDINES - Sardina pilchardus

As the latin name suggests Sardines are the same species as Pilchard, being in abundance in the waters surrounding the Cornish coast. This fishery is concentrated mostly in the inshore waters aropund St. Michael's mount near Penzance.


Sardines are availble for most of the year apart from late spring and early summer. Fish sizes are around 6 to 10 to the kilo.
