CONGER EEL - Conger Conger (photograph not available)
Large and very common fish on rocky shores, the conger eel has a scaleless, cylindrical body, prominent fins and a long dorsal fin, which originates well forward near the head. Chefs' value conger eel for its gelatine and flavour and use this fish for stocks and soups.
Conger Eel ranges in size from 2kg to 10kg. There appears to be no distinctive season for this fish.
